Crayfishing is a key industry in the township of Robe South Australia. Today being the 1st of September represents the official start date of the Southern Rock Lobster fishing season.

At the start of each season the Robe community gathers at the Lake Butler Marina for the 'Blessing of the Fleet'. An opportunity to wish the Robe fisherman all the best for the upcoming season and to remember those who have lost their lives at sea.

So, if you're visiting Robe during cray season, you really should treat yourself and enjoy the fruits of the sea.

Let's look at your options:

For a bucket-list experience you can't go past their crayfish feasts. Prepared, grilled with garlic butter, thermidor or natural with cocktail sauce. Just be sure to pre-order.

For a more casual option head to Robe's local seafood processor who will cook up their 'catch-of-the-day' for you to enjoy onsite. Or purchase instore to cook up yourself. Whilst there, why not book a lobster factory tank tour to see the crays live in action.

Taking it to a whole new level with their famous Crayfish Croissant! But you'll need to get in quick before they sell out.

And what if you're not into seafood I hear you say .... we'll head over to neighbouring town Kingston and check out tourist attraction "Larry" the Big Lobster; he won't disappoint!
